Are you looking for the hair cleanser that will do the job without totally damaging and drying out the luscious locks you’ve spent years cultivating? It’s a struggle, we know!
It’s a struggle bus most people live on, but there are some products out there that restore the vitality of your hair’s pre-product state without damaging its’ hydrated health. Our favorite is Malibu’s Un-Do Goo Shampoo for a number of different reasons...
What is a hair cleanser exactly?
It’s more than a typical shampoo that removes daily dirt and oil. Cleansers go deeper and draw away impurities and product build-up to leave you with a cleaner, fresher look. They’re especially helpful for individuals who use a lot of hair products (Talkin’ to our curly girls/guys out there!) or live in an environment where their hair is constantly assaulted by things like chlorine, sweat, and environmental pollutants.
The Malibu Un-Do-Goo Shampoo
Unfortunately, tons of hair cleansers contain chemicals that dry out hair and leave it more lifeless than when it was staggering under product or buildup weight. But this is why we love Malibu!
Not only is it 100% vegan, but it’s the gentlest hair cleanser we’ve seen. Malibu is a gentle, sulfate-free hair cleanser that boosts the health of your hair and leaves it feeling soft and lightweight.
The visible perks? Malibu ensures optimal hydration, and gives you back hair that is easily manageable and shiny! Even better, your hair comes out smelling like the heavenly tropical vanilla and orange zest vitamin formula.
How To Use It:
Cleansers are different from your every-day shampoo, so there’s a few things that are good to know before you start using it.
Tip 1: Not Every Day
Although Malibu is gentler than every other hair cleanser on the market, cleansers in general should not be used more than once a week and we recommend the same for Malibu. Overuse (daily use) can lead to dry-scalps, irritation, and strand dryness because of the deep-working formula. So, use it once a week at the end of your high-buildup time to wash away everything and restore the easily managed hydration you know and love!
Tip 2: Follow Up With Conditioner or a Mask
Right after cleansing, apply some conditioner or a mask to your hair. Only from your midshaft to ends to avoid oversaturating your hair roots. This is best for any of our lovely guests with dry ends or curly hair - always make sure your curls are hydrated and moisturized after shampooing!
Tip 3: Shampoo Your Hair Before a Color Service
For the best results during your hair color service, we recommend shampooing your hair with the un-do-goo prior to your appointment to leave a clean slate for your stylist. This will allow for the color to really grab onto the hair shaft and minimizes the chances of splotchy color. This coupled with general color maintenance, will stop your sparkles (grays) from peeking through too soon. If you’re one of our regulars, we have an in-salon Malibu clarifying treatment that pairs excellent with your color treatment once a month. Maximize your salon services, ladies and gentlemen!
